Wallace and Gromit the Curse of the Were Rabbit
Wallace and Gromit the Curse of the Were Rabbit was one of the best movies I've seen all year. Many people may not be familiar with the show Wallace and Gromit, which the movie follows. It was a series of short, claymation pieces about Wallace, an amature inventor, and his pet dog cum faithful sidekick Gromit. They both had an exceeding fondness for cheese which motivated a surprising proportion of the action, as when both of them flew to the moon in a space ship to taste the cheese that it was made of. The movie, Wallace and Gromit the Curse of the Were Rabbit, picks up where the last short left off.
In Wallace and Gromit the Curse of the Were Rabbit, our two heroes have gone into business trapping adorable rabbits. The rabbit plague has been a disaster for the local citizens, as their gardens have been ravaged by the mischievous and insatiable appetites of the little, furry hoppers. In Wallace and Gromit the Curse of the Were Rabbit, our inventor team does brisk business with a “bunny-vac” which attaches to rabbit hoes and then sucks rabbits by the dozen into a glass canister. Wallace and Gromit than take the rabbits home to keep them in cages safely out of the way of their clients gardens.
Unfortunately, as often is the case, Wallace has to take things a step too far. As the action of Wallace and Gromit the Curse of the Were Rabbit rises, our foolhardy innovator uses a mind control device to try to put his love of cheese and hatred of vegetables into the minds of the bunnies, so that they will no longer seek to eat up vegetable gardens. The machine backfires, however, and creates a “were rabbit,” a gigantic bunny able to destroy whole gardens with a single chomp of its powerful teeth. Much of Wallace and Gromit the Curse of the Were Rabbit revolves around the duos efforts to determine the identity of this mysterious were rabbit, a mystery which will keep you guessing.
I liked Wallace and Gromit the Curse of the Were Rabbit a lot, although it was not my favorite Wallace and Gromit. My favorite one was The Wrong Trousers, which had a similar theme of technology gone wrong. In The Wrong Trousers, Wallace creates a pair of “techno trousers, capable of walking on their own, to walk Gromit for him. Unfortunately, though predictably, the trousers go haywire, with comic results.
