Women’s Balancing Cycles Aromatherapy

A woman’s body is a delicate blend of hormones that must stay balanced for optimum performance. However, many times, a woman’s body becomes out of balance and hormones begin to run rampant. When a woman’s body is out of harmony she reaps the effects in not only her body, but in her mind and emotions as well. The results of hormones that are imbalanced may be severe cases of premenstrual syndrome, irregular menstrual cycles, an inability to conceive a child, mood swings, anger, depression, sadness, fits of crying, rage, unexplained emotional outbursts, feelings of paranoia, and an extreme experience going through Menopause.

There are many different medications (prescription and over the counter) that are available to help treat these symptoms from various hormonal imbalances, yet they only treat the symptom and not the root of the problem. There are many dangers to taking prescription medications that attempt to regulate the delicate balance between estrogen and progesterone, and we can read the headlines in the news of how one day’s treatment or cure is tomorrow’s newest cancer causing agent.

However, you do not have to feel that all is lost and that you are handed over to the power of your hormones without any hope at all. There are many natural herbs and plants that help regulate hormones and will balance a woman’s body.

Because a hormonal imbalance can lead to emotional upheaval and upset, Aromatherapy is a wonderful remedy for balancing a woman’s system. The relaxation and calming benefits of Aromatherapy, will help ease a woman’s emotional needs while restoring her body to its optimum performance.

When experiencing hormonal fluctuations, it is very important to make sure that you are taking care of your body physically. This includes diet, exercise, and sleep. There is a tendency to crave sweet foods and simple carbohydrates during times of hormonal imbalance and emotional stress. Though it may take self-discipline, it is important to maintain a diet that is rich in complex carbohydrates, and low in sugar and fats. Regularly eat plenty of fruits and vegetables and healthy herbs that are full of micronutrients that you need. It is also imperative to regularly drink plenty of water as well. Don’t fear that you will unnecessarily retain water, cut back on salt but drink plenty of mineral rich water to keep your body well hydrated and refreshed.

It may seem like the last thing you feel like doing is exercising, but your body needs to move, no matter what is going on hormonally. If you feel sluggish, at least walk outside and take a brisk walk for 20 minutes.

Aromatherapy baths and massages are a wonderful way to refresh, relax, and bring balance to the body and mind. Aromatherapy inhalers can also give you a quick boost of energy when you feel depressed or tired. If you need to relax try sipping Chamomile tea at night, or during the day, if you need a burst of energy, try Peppermint Iced tea. That is a wonderfully cooling and refreshing way to get the circulation going. A nice herbal blend that will penetrate the skin and help bring hormonal balance to your system is made from Clary Sage and Rosemary. You can use these essential oils by adding them to a therapeutic aromatic bath. Try adding ten drops of each to a hot tub and soaking for at least 20 minutes. You may also add 5 drops each to 1 ounce of carrier oil for balancing massage oil.
