Clubs that don't severely restrict mobiles are places where business is more important than golf and are therefore to be avoided. A discreet glance at a BlackBerry, however, is another matter altogether and often necessary when trying to arrange a match. Texting is the grey area - all right in the locker room but not on the fairway.
